Did you know that children who are involved in art and music do better in almost all other subjects? Art matters! Before creating our autumn leaves, we learned about the color wheel and looked at warm and cool colors. We talked about why leaves change color in the fall. We looked at various types of leaves and noticed their beautiful coloring. We used oil pastels and tried our hand at blending the colors together. Finally, we used bleeding tissue paper to create our backgrounds. Aren't they beautiful?!
October is a busy month for us. We have just completed our baseline iReady testing. We will be forming our ALD/ELD group rotations. Our language arts genre study is in full swing and we will soon be moving on to our Tall Tales unit (a favorite with students). We are nearing the end of Unit I in math, so it would be helpful to review the math word problem concepts with your child in preperation for the unit test. If you haven't joined PTA yet, we hope you will join to help us earn the pizza party for most memberships in second grade. And finally, we hope that you will consider purchasing a product with your child's art work featured from our Original Works Fundraiser. Orders and payments are due Monday, October 12.
